Rural Counties Are Cooking Healthy .......
Giving Back

Specialties Gourmet was invited to conduct a healthy cooking workshop for churches in Madison County. The goal of the program is to reduce the incidence of cardiovascular disease in the African American community in Madison County through education, nutrition, and physical activity.

"Teaching this class was a great experience for me. I had a great time sharing my knowledge of healthy cooking with all of the people who came out in support of good health," said Chef Matrell. "The class participants were very open minded and genuinely enjoyed the modified versions of their favorite foods.

Thank you Big Bend Rural Health Network for giving Specialties Gourmet the opportunity to make a difference."

All hands prepared the following menu:

  • Baked Tilapia
  • Squash Casserole
  • Collard Greens
  • Fruuit and Yogurt Parfait
