The Tallahassee Democrat published the list of local businesses nominated to receive 2006 Small Business Excellence Awards (A program of the Greater Tallahassee Chamber of Commerce).

For the last 21 years, the Greater Tallahassee Chamber of Commerce has been recognizing the best and most successful area small businesses through the annual Small Business Excellence Awards.

This year Specialties Gourmet was nominated in the category of Emerging Business of the Year.

"I am extremely happy Specialties Gourmet was nominated for this award. It would be both an honor and a priviledge to actually win. My team and I have put in many long hours and have worked diligently to grow the business by providing the best service possible. I am really overjoyed that someone took the time to nominate us. If we win, we will know who that person or business is and I will personally make them a basket full of goodies!" said Chef Matrell. "The actual ceremony is being held on my birthday. What a great way to say hello to 40!"

This year's luncheon will take place June 6 at the University Center Club on the campus of Florida State University.
